At Lethbridge PS we embrace an approach to education that recognises that children are being prepared for a future that is very different from that of previous generations. In response to this understanding we are an Aussie Resource Smart School (Australian Sustainable Schools Initiative Victoria), a Sunskool and a KidsMatter School. We have experienced considerable success at Victorian and National levels of Junior Solar Boat Competitions and we have developed a sustainable approach to one-to-one access to computers in partnership with families of children in years 4-6. At the heart of our decisions about learning in our school is our commitment to developing each child to his/her individual potential across the full range of learning domains including social, emotional, intellectual, creative and physical development.
Our motto “Lethbridge Primary School: Community of Learners” encapsulates the importance of collaborative learning within our community. We are proud of the progressive and comprehensive curriculum provided at Lethbridge Primary School. Our dedicated and enthusiastic staff shares a commitment to authentic and meaningful learning that is relevant to both our rural context and to wider community expectations.
We enjoy modern facilities in an attractive rural setting. Now in our second year in our new school, development of the grounds remains a priority and is supported by school council and a very active "Grounds" committee. The community is keen to create a welcoming environment where families can meet informally at drop off and pick up points in the school. The excellent shaded picnic areas and passive play spaces provide flexibility for teaching and learning whilst providing pleasant surroundings for community gatherings. A multi-purpose room complements the main school building (five open learning studios and a spacious learning street) by providing a substantial space for wet day activities, whole school events such as assemblies and breakfasts and specialist programs including Japanese and Visual Art.
