Rapidly schools are moving towards a student computer ration of 1:1, enabling a transition to
paperless schooling. In reality research suggests that paper use in schools may have actually increased, we argue that the move towards paperless schooling needs to be ‘DESIGNED’.
Participants from RMIT University School of Industrial Design engaged in this challenge to develop paperless schooling product and service design solutions for 3 month, 1 year and 5 year timeframes for CERES environmental park ‘Resource Smart Schools Program’. The studio was delivered by Centre for Design staff Stephen Clune, Simon Lockrey, and visiting Design for Sustainability expert Brian Burns from Canada. The Centre for Design is a sustainable design research centre within RMIT.
This page presents an overview of the results of the project from site visits to schools, and the product and service design solutions.
