APEN is a networking organization in partnership with CERES (the Centre for Education and Research in Environmental Strategies), Melbourne, Australia; Planet Savers Australia; Carbonetix, Australia; and SEEK in Thailand.
APEN International involves broader collaborations internationally and organizationally. These include links with government agencies and partner schools in Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia Middle East, UK and Africa plus links with leading sustainable schools and other training organizations based in Australia.

APEN provides overall networking and marketing while associates deliver most services.
CERES works with Community, schools, teacher sustainability education programs and frameworks for 30 years. CERES has taken a lead role in the development of the Australian Sustainable Schools Initiative (AuSSI) and 1100 schools in Victoria are connected through this program to CERES, including dozens of leader schools. CERES also provides web services and on- line schools network and works with other community centres seeking support from this largest NGO run community environment visitor centre in Australia, and one of the biggest and long lasting in the world.
CERES provides a monthly newsletter on sustainable schools with supplements on APEN achievements. CERES is a Registered Training Organisation.
Planet Savers Australia has worked independently and with CERES to provide energy auditing and planning to hundreds of schools in Australia including aboriginal schools, city and country schools.
Carbonetix has developed a world leading web based monitoring system for school, household, government and corporate environmental monitoring and reporting. Over a thousand schools have used this system which can be accessed and used internationally for planning and recording environmental progress.
Summary of Recent Work:
As well as mentoring and assisting 1000 schools in Australia the associates provide a range of consulting services with hard copy and on- line materials for sustainability education.
Recent work includes:
Planet Saver/CERES consultancy report for VicTrack on community use of railway stations; and the conducting of 70 energy audits in Northern Australian schools
APEN has organized 2 Student Sustainability Conferences in Darwin and Alice Springs and EcoTours in Thailand.
a manual for EcoCentres with major contribution from CERES;
a contract with Victorian Government to deliver to 800 schools;
an APEN-CERES-SEEK Ecoschools conference for 22 schools from Southern Thailand, and ongoing partnership in sustainable schools between APEN, CERES and Princess Mother School and Training Centre, Phuket;
visits to schools in Philippines and Indonesia and China,
APEN/CERES analysis report on the EcoStudent Conference,
SEEK programs for schools and corporate clients in Thailand;
SETS adopted by another 800 schools in Victoria
