Exploring Time – The Past and Present

Exploring Time – The Past and Present

Look to Earth’s history to understand the challenges of today, help us anticipate the future, and promote long term thinking.

We can look to Earth’s history to understand the challenges of today, and help us anticipate the future. Repeating patterns in Deep Time which provide clues as to what the next 100, 1000 or more years will be like, and guide how we should act for the benefit of future generations, human or otherwise. However, most of us are faced with daily competing priorities, and are frequently distracted by the demands of ‘here’ and ‘now’ while putting off the important problems that will have very long-term consequences.

Drawing on the wisdom of thought leaders such as Roman Krznaric, Stephan Harding, Marcia Bjornerud, Kurt Stager and Sophie Howe, this workshop presents a variety of tools, activities and resources to promote long-term thinking.

This workshop is suitable for those who yearn to make our planet healthier for future generations, but find competing, urgent priorities hinder meaningful action. Also welcome are curious people who are interested in challenging embedded assumptions about time.

Exploring Time – The Past and Present is part two of a two-part series.
Part Two, Exploring Time – The Future will run on the following dates:
May 26 @ 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM – booking and more info HERE
November 2 @ 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm – booking and more info HERE

While we encourage participants to book the two workshops, each workshop is designed to be valuable on its own and it is not necessary to book both.

Meet your trainer

Tammy has a background in health psychology and believes that a strong emotional connection with the natural world is good for personal well-being, while also promoting climate awareness and action.

Tammy learnt about Deep Time Walks from Debby Badger who studied at the Schumacher College in Devon UK, and quickly saw their value in encouraging deep ecological awareness and an understanding of our planet as a precious environment from which all life has emerged. Tammy hopes the walks will renew individuals’ emotional connection with Earth and motivate them to take a more active role in confronting the climate crisis.

Tammy’s website introduces you to the notion of deep time walks, or, for more information about the Deep Time Walk project, visit www.deeptimewalk.org
