Early learning
Our early learning activities are based on nature connection and wellbeing, inspired by our values at CERES: “helping people fall in love with the Earth, again.”
Microgreens are densely grown seedlings that are harvested young for their highly concentrated nutrients. They’re delicious, are slightly more mature than sprouts, and have an intense aromatic flavour. Microgreens can be grown in small areas not suitable for other crops, making them perfect for small space food production.
Join Jess Holland, CERES’ microgreens manager, for this introduction to growing microgreens. Jess will:
Jess Holland is a budding horticulturist with an enthusiasm for sustainability, local food systems and urban farming. Jess completed a bachelor in Environmental Science and Business Management in 2017. Since then she has worked for various bush regeneration businesses learning conservation and land management practices to revive grasslands within Victoria. She has experience in wholesale propagation for native plants and studied a Permaculture Design Course in 2019 through Noosa Forest Retreats.
Jess joined CERES Microgreens in 2020 – a social enterprise producing certified-organic microgreens for wholesale and retail – she now manages their production and supply as well as promoting them through education programs as an environmentally-friendly alternative to conventional salad greens.
