EARLY LEARNING
EXCURSIONS
Introduce your kids to the magic of nature on a safe and engaging excursion to CERES.
THE SCHOOL OF NATURE AND CLIMATE EXCURSION PROGRAMS:
Our thoughtfully crafted learning approach will engage your children with nature, allowing them to explore independently, and participate in caring for our environment:
- Discover food sources via an interactive matching game.
- Connect with nature's cycles, inspiring home gardening.
- Convert food waste into nutrient-rich soil with worms and learn how to safely plant seeds into soil and care for them as they grow.

Frequently asked questions
If this is your first excursion at CERES, welcome! You can read all about CERES History and approach to environmental education on our About Us page.
CERES Park is located in Melbourne’s inner north suburb of Brunswick East, 8km from the CBD. It is easily accessible by road and public transport.
Many schools come by bus, though this can add a significant expense to your visit. We recommend public transport as a sustainable and affordable way to get your school group to CERES.
The 96 tram stop is only a 5-minute walk away, and this tram intersects with many other train and tram routes, making it convenient to connect from all across Melbourne. Public Transport Victoria also offers group travel discounts – find out more here.
Reinforce the sustainability lessons learned during your excursion by showing your students a real-world example of how simple actions can make a positive impact on the environment. Save money while reducing carbon emissions!
Your classroom teacher. We require at least one school teacher be present for all the sessions, as CERES Educators do not have Duty of Care.
Please! We love having additional parent helpers. We do however ask you to keep to the ratios provided on the program homepage where possible. Additional aides and parent helpers come at no extra charge to you.
Talk to your students about your upcoming excursion at CERES and the importance of living sustainably. Utilise the Teaching Guide provided to extend your learning.
