St Macartan’s Primary School is situated on the Mornington Peninsula on Bungower Road just north of the heart of Mornington. The school is a parish primary school, which is committed to the teaching of the Catholic Faith and the provision of quality programs which foster the full and balanced development of each child.

St Macartan’s has recently moved to a new location following a major building project which was completed in April 2009. This new school was built with the future in mind, featuring many sustainable assets which allows the community to minimise our environmental footprint and protect the planet for our children.

St Macartan’s is currently completing the AuSSI Vic program (Australian Sustainable Schools Initiative) to become a 5 star school. The School is committed to educating students that they can make a difference locally and globally, to be caretakers of the earth.

Education for sustainability is part of the teaching and learning that occurs throughout the curriculum. The sustainability centre at St Macartan’s is being developed as an area where students can be involved in hands on learning about animal husbandry, growing plants and vegetables, propogating plants, planting , composting, and associated scientific concepts.
