Program: Council services to schools
This program supports sustainability practices in schools and contributes to council’s environment and sustainability goals.

Accessible to schools in the following Melbourne metropolitan regions: Southern
Appropriate for students in:
Early Childhood
Primary – Prep to Grade 2
Primary – Grade 3 to Grade 6
Secondary – Year 7 to Year 10
Secondary – Year 11 to Year 12
What is offered to schools:
1. Teacher Environment Network
- Twice a term (once at council with a guest speaker and once out at a school)
2. Neighbourhood Sustainable Gardening Program for schools and households
- a sign for the school
- free garden workshops
- special attendance at community events
3. Free community workshops (10-12 a year)
- energy efficiency
- gardening
- waste
- electric vehicles
4. 4 x free council collected recycling bins for schools with waste reduction programs
5. 1 x council collected green bin for a $55 one-off fee
6. Facilities and Venues Grant
- if a school wants to hire a council venue, they can get a grant to cover those costs
7. Council Officer visits:
- Support for student projects (visits to help them plan)
- Incursions (recycling games)
