This program helps hundreds of thousands of Australians plant over 1 million native trees, shrubs and grasses at more than 4000 Tree Day events.

Accessible to schools in the following Melbourne metropolitan regions: Eastern, Northern and Southern
Appropriate for students in:
Primary – Prep to Grade 2
Primary – Grade 3 to Grade 6
Secondary – Year 7 to Year 10
Secondary – Year 11 to Year 12
What is offered to schools:
- Each year, around 2500 preschools, kindergartens, primary and high schools across Australia take part in Schools Tree Day.
- Schools Tree Day 2014 is on Friday 25th July (although events can be held at any time during the year).
- Schools can also participate in National Tree Day in their community on Sunday 27th July 2014.
- Schools don’t have to be planting trees to take part in Schools Tree Day. They could create or add to a vegetable garden, weed a previously planted area, add grasses and shrubs to their gardens or venture out to the local bush to lend community groups a helping hand.
- Many Melbourne councils provide free plants for schools on Schools Tree Day.
Registering for Schools Tree Day provides schools with:
- Putting their activity ‘on the map’ via the Planet Ark website
- An electronic toolkit to support their presentation
- Recommendations and discounts about where to buy plants
- Lesson plans (written by Cool Australia)
- E-news updates
