The council offers a range of programs to support sustainability practices in schools and contributes to council’s environment and sustainability goals.

What is offered to schools:
1. School Environmental Education Program
• School Conservation Education Activities including:

Guided tours of reserves
Indigenous plantings
2. Waste Education Classroom Sessions
• Sessions on the following topics are available:
Compost and worm farms
Reduce, reuse and recycle
Litter in the environment
Waste wise shopping

3. Waste Minimisation School Education (WMSEd) Program
• The Waste Minimisation School Education Program (WMSEd) is an initiative that has been developed by Greater Dandenong Council to help schools with the development and implementation of a waste minimisation action plan.
The program is facilitated by an experienced waste educator who will aid schools to develop and implement action plans to minimise waste and improve recycling efforts. The program is tailored to each participating school’s individual goals and specific school community.
