Each year on World Environment Day, June 5, the United Nations seeks to focus world attention on the environment and, particularly on innovative programs which aim to protect or restore the world’s natural heritage.

2014 marks the International Year of Family Farming (IYFF) that aims to raise the profile of family farming and smallholder farming by focusing world attention on its significant role in eradicating hunger and poverty, providing food security and nutrition, improving livelihoods, managing natural resources, protecting the environment, and achieving sustainable development.

The Awards play an important role in raising awareness of the key environmental issues and challenges within Australia. The gala event celebrates the outstanding achievements of the year’s finalists and winners.

Bound by a shared desire to take positive steps towards sustainability and the environment, these individuals, organisations and business are the leaders in environmental excellence in Australia, and are acknowledged across a broad array of categories.

The dinner offers the opportunity to mix with environmental leaders from all sectors, and showcases the cutting edge programs and initiatives of the 2014 award recipients.
