Waste not want not
Carnegie Primary School has a proud tradition of reduce, re-use and recycle. Every classroom has a station with clearly marked bins so children can sort their waste. Paper is re- used and recyled, food scraps are composted in external compost heaps, fed to our hungry chickens and worm farms. Susbsequently, we have a achieved a significant reduction in our waste going to landfill.
Our students are eager participants in all aspects of waste reduction and our Envirostars (student action groups) come up with many original ideas to reduce our waste stream even further. We regularly have nude food days and are trialling an electronic newsletter.
