Warburton Primary School Transport Audit
In 2012, Warburton Primary School undertook a whole school transport audit as part of the Energy Module. The Grade 5/6 class were in charge of the audit and came up with their own survey sheets. They conducted the surveys by doing ‘line ups’ in each class holding the pictures of the different modes of transport to help guide students to the right group. They also wanted to calculate travel time as well as distance so built this in to the activity. The results were fantastic – over 50% of the school walked to school. The students created graphs which will be presented at assembly at the end of Term 3.
Warburton Primary then held a Walk to School Day, with a free breakfast and sticker for people who walked to school. The audit was important because it helped the school complete some requirements of the Energy Module and also turned the activity into a behaviour change program with whole school celebration.

By Nick Rickard. Like many, coffee is a big part of my daily routine. It’s hard to imagine my world without coffee, but unfortunately a world without an abundance of coffee may be a reality in the not too distant future.
