Since starting kinder this year, the children have been learning about the 3 types of buckets that we have on the lunch table.
The yellow is for recyclable material
The blue is for rubbish and
The green is for food scraps that we can place in the worm farm and compost bins.
Each day we have been talking about these and the children are starting to get the hang of it and are now putting their items in the correct buckets, and supporting their peers to do so.
We have then talked about what we do with the different buckets. The children have been helping by placing the food scraps in the compost bin and the rubbish in the rubbish bin.
Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework
Community: Children become socially responsible and show respect for the environment.
Learning: Children develop dispositions for learning such as curiosity, cooperation, confidence, creativity, commitment, enthusiasm, persistence, imagination and reflexivity.
We will further this interest and learning by providing games that talk about recycling/rubbish/composting.
