Sustainability at Lilydale Heights
Under the leadership of our College Sustainability Leader and Sustainability Captains, the Sustainability team is working towards being accredited as a 5 star resource smart school. The Resource Smart program is endorsed by Sustainability Victoria and administered by CERES environmental park. The stars are achieved by showing commitment to the program (Core Star) and developing programs which result in improvements in Biodiversity, reductions in Water and Energy use and Waste production.
Our goal is to increase the sustainability of the college, and as an end product, be a leading school in sustainable education. The team’s aim is to increase knowledge and awareness about sustainability. Our initiatives for 2019 include reducing the use of plastic, water, and sustaining the vegetable garden here at school. We are hoping to broaden the sustainability team by including the wider school community, both teachers and students.
