The APC Enviro Team has kicked another goal for the planet by tackling the problem of styrofoam packaging.
The State Government has been supplying air purifiers for the school, but each piece of equipment came with large amounts of styrofoam packaging.
Usually, the styrofoam would end up in landfill and then break up into microplastics, damaging the environment for generations to come.
However, the Enviro Team refused to see this as an acceptable solution and organised for the Moonee Valley Transfer Station at Aberfeldie (one of a few transfer stations that recycles styrofoam) to take our styrofoam and prevent it from harming the ecosystem.
This year, a lot of government schools will be faced with the same problem so we are going to get in contact with them to prevent their styrofoam from ending up as landfill.
We would like to shout out to the maintenance team, especially maintenance manager Chris Davis, for organising this recycling. They have gone above and beyond to assist the college in achieving its environment goals.
