Thinking of Sleeping in on World Environment Day?
Good!
It means you still have time to get on down to sunny Melbourne Girls’ College by 11am for the fun and illuminating community engagement climate event we (The MGC Sustainability Collective) have planned!
It will be held on Saturday the 4th of June from 11am- 2.30pm here at MGC. It is designed to draw in the community members to participate in a forum about climate change. It is completely up to date in the science and the current and future strategies available to mitigate the effects of climate change.
This event is intended for people who are concerned about climate change but are confused by the current debate; those who wish to know more about the solutions and options for effective prevention of further climate change; and those who would like to move from interest to action on climate related issues.
To ensure the scientific information presented is up to date and credible, we have booked Professor David Karoly, Australian Member of the IPCC to speak. To ensure you’re kept entertained, we’ve book Rod Quantock to MC the event and to keep you all motivated and not feeling that the world will die, we have secured Mr Alex Fearnside, CEO of the Yarra Energy Foundation. YEF is a Not for Profit Organisation set up by the Yarra council whose sole responsibility is to make the entire city of Yarra 100% Carbon neutral by 2020. Yes, that includes residential, business and council- pretty ambitious eh?!
