Reconnecting with our Journey at Our Lady of the Pines
Earlier this year senior members of our Green Team attended the Eastern Metro Region ‘Sustainability Fair’ where they were inspired to breathe new life into our sustainability journey at our school. We have eighteen members of our Green Team from prep to grade 6. In the past we have completed our Waste Module and are completing our Energy Module at present. Some of the things that have implemented are new blinds in the senior building to help cool our rooms in summer so we can reduce our use of artificial cooling. Also the team have displayed a sign in each room above the light switches to remind everyone to turn out the lights when you leave the room. The Green team are eagerly awaiting our energy audit so we can see where else we can save energy and reduce our carbon footprint.

Resourcesmart is an initiative of Sustainability Victoria and we have progressed through two modules so far- the Core Module and the Waste module. As a result we have just recently been awarded our second star. We have started our third module, it is Biodiversity which has been sponsored by the Hume Council.
