Look up in the trees at the front of the school and the Caterpillar Park and you will see two nesting boxes for birds!

The Environmental Tacklers have put together the boxes ready for native birds to live in.

One of the boxes is for Rosellas. They are a beautiful red and blue colour. This box has a ladder so that the Rosella can climb into it.

The other box is for Lorikeets. They have red, blue, green and yellow feathers. This box has a piece of wood that will keep out non-native birds because they can’t move the wood.

Thanks to Andrew Stocker from La Trobe University who came to talk to us about native birds and animals and helped us to build the nesting boxes.

So next time you’re out in the playground, try to spot the boxes and the beautiful birds that are nesting in them!
