The Year 6 Sustainability Committee at St Therese, participated in a Kids Teaching Kids Local Conference in Queenscliff this year.
The students session focussed on beach pollution and our plastic purchasing choices at the supermarket.
The students were able to show the debris they have been collecting from Fisherman’s Beach in Torquay. They also challenged other students to calculate the plastic generated when purchasing items from the supermarket.
“We were able to show the data from our beach rubbish collection visits, all the students were impressed with our work” Ava Year 6.
“The kids and teachers from the other schools really liked our Plastic maths activity, they said they were going to try it with their classes when they got back to school.” Sam Year 6
