I am excited to be running the Environmental Education Course again in 2017. I have enjoyed creating and being part of facilitating this course in 2015 and 2016. I love blending all the embedded knowledge of CERES programs and industry experts and being able to share it with budding environmental educators and community activators. The participants also make the course what it is. As a participant you will contribute through creating and sharing activities under each topic. Previous courses have formed great friendships and networks. The alumni from 2015 and 2016 still meet up and have shared in making environmental projects and events happen.
The course covers theory and practical under the session topics listed below. This knowledge building contributes to the last day of the course where the students present on an activity or project that they want to implement in their chosen community. This is my favourite day where I will wipe away a proud tear while engaging in the student presentations.
Thank you to all the alumni from 2015 and 2016 for their feedback and recommendations. Here are comments from participants that made me feel like the program was a success.
“Thank you so much for creating such a wonderful course and getting our little group together, it’s a massive highlight of 2016 for me.”“Thank you for such an inspiring and empowering 8 weeks. Please let us know when Environmental Education 2 begins!!”
What I like about the course “Diversity of materials and experiences. “Hands-on” time at the farm and the creek, Thank you for getting a great group of people together”…. Next time “LONGER PLEASE!!!”
Also I look forward to welcoming alumni in 2017. We have had a mix of expertise in the previous courses including international masters students, teachers, sessional educators, engineers, nurses, outdoor educators, council officers, passionate parents, wine makers, farmers and ‘starting from scratch-ers’.
The course starts on 21st March 2017 running for 8 weeks on a Tuesday from 10am – 4pm.
