We have been busy at Carnegie completing our Energy module. Representatives from the student Green Team, the Envirostars, attended a LESS (Leaders in Environmentally Sustainable Schools) workshop in Term 2 and devised an Action Plan for the whole school with a focus on energy. The Envirostars recently held a competition across the school to determine which class could develop the best persuasive signage to encourage people to save energy. Winners were announced at school assembly. Classes also performed songs and raps.

Some of our other initiatives are outlined below:
· We have installed solar panels under the National Solar in Schools Program
· We have conducted an energy audit and have begun to implement measures outlined in the audit to save energy across the school.
· Each class has Energy Monitors responsible for turning off lights, heaters, air conditioners and computers when they are not being used
· Classrooms have clear signage – switch off lights and close doors. Each class has a thermometer and guidelines for when to turn on heating/aircon. Students are encouraged to dress appropriately.
· Standby and shutdown regime for computers
· Walking/Wheeling Wednesdays where students are encouraged to walk/bike ride to school.
· Curriculum is included at all levels which explores our use of finite resources, renewable technologies and our ecological footprints.
