Case Study Mill Park – Waste
Middle Years Campus
September 2008
Mill Park Secondary College is currently working on the Waste Module of the AussiVic program. We have completed our Travelsmart Plan and undertaken a Biodiversity Audit in partnership with Greening Australia and Zoos Victoria.
One of the most exciting ventures has been the Biodiversity Audit, as we now have exciting plans for the school and we were able to present our findings to a Youth Conference on Climate Change in August 2008.
Our Plans include developing a Wetland area, building wildlife corridors and developing the understorey at the college. The Wetland area will also be an outside classroom for Science, Art and Humanities.
In November we will be trained as Water Watch monitors and begin to monitor the water quality of the Redleap Reserve as well as the macro invertebrates that live there. When we have our own wetlands we will be able to compare the two sites.
