A Sustainable way to Travel – Bike Ed. at St. Johns
During Term 3 and 4 students have been participating in the Vic. Roads Bike Education program. This has been made possible by establishing partnerships with the Bendigo Bank our sponsors and with Jon Gordon, our instructor (formerly of Melbourne Bikes).

Bike Education is going full steam ahead at St. Johns with thanks to the Bendigo Bank sponsorship and the expertise of our instructor Jon Gordon. Students in Years Prep to 6 have been involved in classroom theory sessions and outdoor practical sessions. Classroom teachersare involved in the practical sessions and support and follow up the theory sessions in their classrooms.

In Term 4 Years 5 and 6 students are working towards participating in on road rides. We have been very fortunate to have the bike and maintenance skills of Raoul Luescher (Zoe Year 1 – Dad) to support the program as well as other parents providing support and encouragement. It is truly amazing to see how quickly trainer wheels have disappeared and students new to bicycles up and riding. It’s pretty clear that all of the partnerships we are establishing are producing positive outcomes for students!
