1. Why is it so important to act on climate change?
Climate change threatens not only the future of young people, but will also exacerbate current social inequalities within our society. It is those who contribute the least to global warming who will ultimately suffer the brunt of inaction. How is it fair that those who are most vulnerable and most innocent in this crisis, are the ones to suffer for the thoughtless actions of privileged and in power? Without tangible and ambitious action to combat climate change, the very foundations of human civilisation, including the moral, social and economic groundings, with crumble before our very eyes.
2. What would you like to tell Australian leaders?
Australian leaders need to step up into the roles they have been elected into and represent the views and values of Australians who are demanding climate action. For young people, like myself, our entire lives are in your hands. We are the ones who will live with the decisions you make today, whether they be foolish or wise. Make those decisions count. Be on the right side of history.
How is it fair that those who are most vulnerable and most innocent in this crisis, are the ones to suffer for the thoughtless actions of privileged and in power?
3. What is your message to motivate others to join the climate movement?
The intersection between young people and democratic action has led to amazing, positive political changes in history. In this climate movement, it’s not just the university students who are at the forefront but also primary and secondary school students, which demonstrates how profound this issue is to young Australians. We are creating history and we want as many people to be part of that. Every single person will be affected by climate change, so every single person has an obligation to fight it too.
