In the first week back for schools this year, 8 new schools built as part of the New Schools PPP Project will officially open their doors for their first intake of students in 2017.
These schools are located in growing areas of Melbourne and incorporate state-of-the-art facilities and have been built with a contemporary pedagogical design in mind. The schools will also be a hub for other community programs to take place.
The new schools are:
- Wilandra Rise Primary School (Clyde North)
- Tulliallan Primary School (Cranbourne North)
- Barton Primary School (Cranbourne West)
- Harvest Home Primary School (Epping)
- Mernda Park Primary School (Mernda)
- Mernda Central P-12 College (Mernda)
- John Henry Primary School (Pakenham)
- Featherbrook P-9 College (Point Cook)

Since the start of building, Principals have worked for months planning and putting systems in place before the start of Term 1 2017. The CERES Education team have worked with the schools in the last year addressing sustainability with professional development days and workshops to introduce the ResourceSmart Schools program. This year CERES will start delivery of the ResourceSmart Schools Core Module as the foundation and move through further modules of Energy, Waste, Water, and Biodiversity to suit each school’s choice.
Last week on Wednesday 25 Jan 2017 Minister James Merlino met with the new Principal’s at Newbury Primary School before schools open this week.
