Cheers and champagne flowed in the CERES Education offices on Wednesday as the Premier announced our involvement in the New Schools Public Private Partnership Project. After months of hard work and waiting, we couldn’t be happier with the outcome.

The project will involve building 15 brand new schools in Victoria’s fastest growing areas, with the first few to open in 2017. Learning Communities Victoria was selected as the winning bid to build and maintain the new schools, bringing together a group of organisations with significant expertise. These include Amber as sponsor, ClarkeHopkinsClarke as architect, Watpac as builder, Spotless as facilities manager and YMCA and CERES as community partners. We will run community and environmental programs at each school, and meet with staff prior to completion of the buildings to embed sustainability into its foundations at the early stages.

Involvement in this significant project – totalling $291 million – will open new doors and take CERES Education to a whole new level. We look forward to taking on this important work in collaboration with the organisations involved to build more sustainable schools around Victoria.
